Levels of Difficulty

How do we grade our puzzles? Which level of difficulty should you choose for you?

All our puzzles are graded by completed size, number of pieces, size of individual pieces and complexity of image. The smaller the puzzle, the easier it tends to be for the average puzzler. The larger the puzzle, the greater the number of pieces, the more time and attention required. We have personal experience that a complex image with too many of the same shades and tones of colour can make a simpler design more difficult. This combination of keyline design and image makes every puzzle a unique experience.

I have personally chosen to use the same keyline with five different images and found each experience to be a different level of difficulty. Images are also subject to personal preference. For example, Van Gogh masterpieces with exquisite brushstroke details change a simple keyling to complex and a difficult keyline to downright diabolical!

We especially love designing XL pieces puzzles in response to a greater need. While these puzzles have large easy to handle pieces, they don’t always qualify as easy. They work equally well for children of a school going age, older adults, special needs and regular puzzles who want an easy going experience. The level of challenge here is usually medium… with a view to ensuring that every puzzler finds something to enjoy.

Our mini puzzles can occasionally be mind boggling because they tend to be shaped puzzles with no edge pieces. This makes them small and fairly quick but not always easy. No challenge often means no enjoyment and we want our clients to get their money’s worth.

Choose a puzzle that delights your eye, feels good, has a theme and whimsies that interest you. Choose a puzzle that WILL STRETCH YOU into a new experience of yourself.
